


The rapture is an eschatological (end times) event whereupon the return of Christ the true believers who are "alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air." (1 Thessalonians 4:17). Here's how "The Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Religion: Q-Z" defines "rapture," which I'm including because it's an almost direct parallel to what happens in the game: It was more like the Christian concept of "rapture." Except the apocalypse wasn't a nuclear war or a battle between the forces of good and evil. In "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture," you're an unidentified character exploring the British county of Shropshire following an apocalyptic event.
